The silverback in the video is so sweet with the babies and just the intelligence in his eyes gave me goose bumps.

Sorry I've been away from the blog - my listings have been later and later in the day. How did I get behind? Oh I know - business has been so good and without my husband helping (the time period he was between jobs got me spoiled) I play "catch up" each day but be patient! I am looking at ways to speed up the process.

One of my most favorite patterns I've listed recently is: Vogue 1718 Blue Ribbon Winning Jacket & Dress 1986 and the evening version well ehh. But the semi-dressy one is drop dead gorgeous. What a graceful waistline. If you are a 6 to 10 in size grab it quick!

Is this too awesome or what! It is so flirty. The straight skirt is nice but add that full skirt and that's a dancing dress - Takes my breath away.

We had a great extended weekend camping with friends. It was in the 70's during the day and nicely chilly at night so a big bonfire was welcome. Saturday afternoon there was an awesome windstorm for about 4 or 5 hours so we hung around in the trailer drinking beer and laughing. A much needed rest. While the guys were out riding I laid around and read. Finished a really fascinating book called the Hunger Games and then downloaded the next two books. I finished book 2 and am on book 3 which is the finale. Wow - it's gripping. Until a friend recommended this book series last week I hadn't ever heard of it and now I hear a movie is coming out in March. I highly recommend this series - you can't put it down. Featured vintage pattern is : Mail Order 4569 Eye Candy Retro Blouse / ca. 1960's- this genre has certainly taken off with the Mad Men series. I have only seen bits and pieces of the show but the fashions are bringing back that era with a bang.

Featured "New" is Vogue 2457 Dazzling Double Breasted Dress 1990 which is the epitomy of a sailor collar coatdress. I love this one.

Featured pattern today is a rare beauty! Vogue 6511 Splashy Halter Dress or Jumper & Blouse / ca. 1965 and what a classy outfit. It's always fun to get a new batch of patterns and sort through and find one like this. I love yard sales, thrift stores, garage and estate sales and buying a big bunch of patterns without knowing what you are getting is a treasure hunt.

Yesterday pretty much sucked. Woke up achy and feeling lousy. Figured out I have the flu. Moving slow today but at least getting some patterns listed today. I didn't even get into my email yesterday except on my phone. Am I the only one that can't type on their cellphone? I spend more time backspacing and correcting than typing.

Oh my gosh found a great pattern that brought back alot of 70's memories. Did we not, all of us, have a beanbag chair??? Mine was lime green. Makes me quesy to think about it. But I loved it. Mail Order 3094 Fine Fitted Bodice Dress / Late 1940's - it says it has front "revers" - what are revers? Hmmmm. Well whatever - it's a "fine" dress for sure.

A friend of ours has a serious medical condition and is signed up with Caring Bridge so that his family and friends can be kept up to date on what is going on with his treatment. What a wonderful organization this is. If you have a loved one who is battling an injury or illness check into it. Our friend is out of state awaiting a liver transplant so being kept in the loop is so helpful. There is also a guestbook so well wishes can be posted.

Featured new is: McCall's 6005 Lazy Loose Jumpsuit 1992 so nothing fancy but it looks so comfortable. It's a rare pattern and sadly I only have it in a small size. If you are tiny this is for you!

Hope you all had a wonderful New Year's celebration! Ours was quiet as usual. Had a lovely dinner on New Year's Day with my mother in law and two of her good friends. Harry BBQ'd pork crown roast and it was fantastic. If you've never had it give it a try. It's like a "rack of lamb" only of pork. Simply delicious and because it's a lovely cut it makes a nice fancy dinner.

Watched a movie New Year's Eve - "Fast Five" and ate popcorn. After that adreneline rush movie it was hard to go to sleep. Just kidding.

For Christmas my honey talked me into an E-Book reader. Oh my gosh I am so hooked. Already put a gazillion "must read" books in. One my favorite authors is Vince Flynn and he comes out with a new book next month and it's nice to know I can simply press a button and it's in my hands.

Simplicity 1310 Bombshell Three-Piece Suit / ca. 1955 with a superb side zipper opening for the blouse with a "faux" button flap in front. Definitely a bombshell outfit with that nip waisted overblouse.

We are staying home this Christmas and planning on making some special dishes. Harry's mom and two of her best friends who don't have family anywhere near here are coming to spend Christmas dinner with us. Not sure what the main dish will be - I favor a "rack of pork loin" kind of like a rack of lamb with the same type of cut but pork. One of my favorites. Brush some seasoning on it and put it cooking slow on the BBQ - mmmm. Christmas Eve will be the traditional Oyster Stew and spiked eggnog which will no doubt carry into Christmas Day.

Featured vintage pattern is Simplicity 2345 Divine Shirtwaist Dress / ca. 1958 with or without pockets? With of course. I don't have the envelope for this one sadly. It is uncut however and very rare. I have waited for a couple of years for one to pop up somewhere on the internet so I could see what it looked like and finally yesterday one popped up.

I have been on a Christmas listing frenzy! A nice gentleman contacted me not long ago and a family member who sewed had passed away and had so many great patterns he didn't want to throw away. I bought them all "as a lump sum" and so many were craft patterns that I don't usually find. With the gift giving season upon us I have been scanning like a madwoman.

Wish I had the whole set! Not sure how useful the info is being so dated but the booklet would make a nice pretty addition to any sewing book collection.

In my never ending quest for research of listings I ran across a blogsite called SewCraftful which I could never hope to compete with - oh my gosh who has the time??!! Just lucky for us they do - they have many neat articles but the one that caught my eye was How to Value Vintage Sewing Patterns. This is such an accurate description of what I do to evaluate vintage or even newer patterns. I never just find a pattern, scan it, edit it, and list it. Every single one is researched thoroughly. Definitely more time consuming but it gives you the buyer more info too. If I say it is scarce or rare you can be certain that at the time I list it is. Often after 8 or 10 months I reevaluate a pattern's worth and either delete it or relist it at a lesser price to move the product.

Simplicity 2261 Extra Special Dress with Tiered "Bustle" / ca. 1947 - a T ruly Teen pattern with a great "nipped" waist, and tiered "bustle" affect. If you are tiny or have a teen who is into retro fashions this could be a winner. Though the envelope is awful the pattern itself is uncut. Lucky me - lucky someone.

Am I the only one who remembers Sea Monkeys? Remember getting those when you were a kid? I didn't find out until an adult that they were actually brine shrimp. Found that out when we lived at Mono Lake and a friend harvested the brine shrimp. We had all the sea monkeys we could catch. Can't Look Away - Mail Order 9236 Dignified Day Dress 1960's and don't the gloves just "make" the outfit? Afraid I just can't do it - does anyone even wear gloves anymore except in the winter? When we lived in the "snow belt" with temperatures below zero I still couldn't take wearing gloves especially when driving a car. Had to put up with it until the car was warmed up and it was irritating. Anyone out there still wearing gloves?

Had a lovely conversation with a new customer yesterday who used to live in Arizona but now lives in New Hampshire. What a difference in weather for sure. She encouraged me to check out a site with chapters in Yuma called SASS - Single Action Shooting Society who put on "shows" and competitions. She bought some western period costume patterns. They must put on quite a show. Will have to check into their events. Looks like fun.

We leave this evening for a quick trip to SoCal to visit my sister and her husband. He's having a rough time doing both chemo and radiation and needs to be cheered up for sure. My husband could make a Buckingham Palace Guard spit out water with laughter. Wish us luck.

I just had a call from a new customer who mentioned an interesting pattern site called "Laughing Moon" which is located in Sacramento, California. Very unique patterns all "historical" and they even have period clothing. Their patterns are so authentic looking. If you are into Old West or that type of pattern for costuming or event check them out.

Also wanted to pass on a website that carries women's products called Ahava - I have used their products and am addicted to them. Especially the sun block as it works extra good here in sunny AZ. Moisturizers, make-up you name it. Every area on your body has a product!

Featured new is: McCall's 5816 Waifish Jumpsuit & Dress 1992 which is not only dang cute but I have in just about every size right now. Yay! Butterick 5374 Lady of Leisure Housecoat or Brunch Coat / ca. 1950 - a concept that I don't think is happening today. Today we wear robes. Such a shame. But then not being wealthy or hanging with the elite maybe they still wear these! Jumping out of bed to an alarm, getting my husband's lunch together, toast for breakfast, making coffee and starting my "job" I know that poor housecoat would have coffee or butter stains the first morning - oh and not to forget all that cat hair.

Butterick 1390 Fetching Gathered Bodice Frock / ca. 1941 - just adore the bodice with that smooth yoke and then the gathers beneath it. Don't you just love patterns with writing on the envelope! Well unless it's just junky - often it's a name or a comment. Now this one has me baffled - I swear it says "poke out" - huh? Ohhhh Wait - I just relooked and it says "Poka Dut" which I gather means "Polka Dot" - okay they could sew but not spell. We all have our niches in life. Too funny -

Nancy rules! Here's another fun site entitled "Tampon Crafts for any time of the month" - gotta see it. People will find something to do with anything. Before seeing this site I would have said "almost anything" but this truly stretches my imagination. But I will pass on any of these crafts. In my BM days (Before Menopause) how many times did I (and I am sure you can relate) pull out my wallet to pay for something and have a tampon fly out. Countless - I still have nightmares.

Two newer features today (couldn't decide - they are both awesome).

Hollywood 544 Glamorous Movie Star Nightdress / ca. 1940 is the featured vintage pattern today. I only found one other on the internet and it was priced so dang high. Okay this one is very high too but that other one has me beat - honestly! I got five Hollywood Sewing Patterns the other day and they are all of this quality. They don't look like they have ever been used. Absolutely perfect as the day they were bought. So rare for this quality. So very "Jean Harlow" looking.

Can't resist putting this more recent "vintage" pattern in too because it is a bit "different" - McCall's 3162 Feel the Beat Dress & Dance Pants 1972. Dance pants? Sadly it's for a tiny person - why couldn't it be a normal size? Okay I am just jealous remembering my Size 6 days.

I've been meaning to encourage you readers to be good Girl Scouts and "Be Prepared" - seeing the images of people scrambling for supplies at the last minute during the latest hurricane brought to memory my years of living in blizzard country and being literally snowed in. Avalanches cut us off and we were without power for nearly 4 days one time. In December - 20's outside. We were 7 miles from the nearest town of 300 people and 45 miles from a real city. But because of our locale we were always extra prepared with lots of extra food, both frozen and canned. We even had a generator thank God. Our neighbors who didn't have one brought most of their perishables over to our refrigerator or put it outside in ice chests and they spent alot of time at our house watching TV and doing anything they needed to do that required power. Since we all had wood stoves heat wasn't a problem. Now that we live in Yuma snow isn't a problem but we've had earthquakes and power outages due to thunderstorms. Not a good thing when it's 118 outside and no AC. Our generator gives us a feeling of relief just for that "what if" moment. We have a huge pantry and if something happened we know we would get by for quite a long time. Could you? Don't put off stocking up a bit "just in case" - it would be so unnerving to be struggling last minute to buy food and water with other people frantically pushing you out of the way. Be the one who stays home and doesn't have to worry.

Okay 'nuf scary stuff. The featured "new" pattern today is Vogue 7011 Closet Organizers - Get Organized Today! 1999 a somewhat hard to find pattern. I've seen lots of closet organizers and this is my favorite. If you are like me every few months I get a bee up my butt and rearrange closets because I can't find my favorite purse or hat. Now this is getting me inspired to do it again - grin.

Cooler weather here at last. It was 71 degrees this morning. By this weekend I will be able to go outside and do some yard work. Yay. Lots of wind and thunderstorms lately so even though all the leaves have blown away it evens out or makes it worse when everyone else's leaves are in my yard. It will be nice to be able to sit on the patio again without starting to smoke (not cigarettes!) and let's not forget starting a vegetable garden using "Square Foot Gardening" methods. Nothing like fresh veggies.

Finally feel like fall is close at hand. It's only been about 100 degrees for a few days and evenings are lovely. I've been gazing with longing toward the top shelves in my closet where my sweaters are stacked. Soon soon! Can't ever truly pack away my summer tops and shorts because nice days still happen but with such thin blood when it's in the 70's I get chilly.

Simplicity 2694 Cheeky Wrap Around Slip & Pants / ca. 1949- the "wrap" slip is something I hadn't seen before. Certainly makes it easy to adjust for sizing - would imagine it could also be used as a nightgown and the wrap feature would allow it to just be tossed on and tied!

When listing last week I came across the funniest pattern from Prominent Designer: Prominent Designer A517 Fashionista Dress & Coat 1960's and yes the pattern is awesome but I couldn't stop laughing over the "hat" on her head. WTH? I kept picturing her wanting to have her hands free and nowhere else to put it so she put it on her head. Vogue 9476 Flared Caftan Dress or Top 1980's or maybe late 1970's it's hard to tell. Not a big fan of the long or the short one but the middle one is "just right" - a neat "tent" dress. My favorite type of fashion to wear on a hot day here in Yuma. Let's the air flow - ahhhhhhh. Makes me think of cruising a farmer's market or swap meet. Cash & chapstick in one pocket, driver's license, checkbook & credit cards in another. Keeping hands free to peruse the merchandise.

McCall's 7728 Thrilling Keyhole Neckline Dress with Two Skirts 1965 - one of the few patterns that I prefer the full skirt over the slim skirt. The pleating around the waistline makes it fall beautifully - hope it would turn out that good when it is made. Can't go wrong with a keyhold neckline either. Just a little peek -

Taking the MIL to the airport in Phoenix-Mesa this morning (her plane leaves at 5 p.m.) and will get to go to a few of my favorite thrift stores in all the world - Savers. Probably won't do a post tomorrow and may not even get patterns in - all depends on how late I get home. Note to self - take an ice chest with lots of water!

Featured new so caught my eye that when I researched it for pricing and information I found a few others and bought them up to fill in a sizing gap. I should have them in about a week so if you love this dress and it's not your size just wait a week and check back.

Simplicity 1716 "Graceful Empire Line" Dress & Jacket /ca. 1956 a style that makes me want to twirl in circles on a sidewalk until I get dizzy and fall down. That wouldn't take long because when I even look at a merry-go-round and I get nauseated.

I just had an email from one of my customers who is very brave and has made some really old patterns. She had a question about care of old and fragile patterns and I thought that the Pattern Rescue site might be worth posting here too. For those of you who not only sew but keep the old patterns they have alot of good info for care and repair.

I will be listing late Sunday night for Monday and then skipping Tuesday unless I get lucky. The Mother-In-Law is going to visit some friends in Canada and I take her to the airport in Phoenix on Monday. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive so that will be a long day.

Last week was an awesome week for finding some fabulous 40's thru 60's patterns. I am actually ahead for once. After going to SoCal for my sister's wedding on July 3rd and then spending the 4th there as well I came home and had to face a major catch up phase.

My sister's wedding to Richard and the party that followed will go high on list of "best parties" ever. The best party ever was actually Richard's 50th birthday party two years ago. The wedding went off flawlessly. I gave my sister away and Richard's daughter Katie gave her dad away. I only cried once.

Had to make a serious business decision early this week. Sadly I am unable to continue shipping free to Canada with the purchase of 3 or more patterns. Costs in so many areas have gotten too high and I have cut back in many ways without affecting the quality or care in shipping. Thank you to LaRaLil for the nice blog in response to a vintage pattern order she received last week. Okay I don't know what it says but she swears it's a compliment.

Finally have our hot hot hot weather. It is 110 right now but I am shivering in the air conditioning inside. Don't dare turn it down or off though as it's hard for the A/C to play catch up with the temperatures. Got to get the boat ready for the river. Maybe I'll get my husband to get it out this evening so we can polish and wax and clean it all and get it set to go fishing and swimming. The Colorado River here is so dang cold that unless it's been over 105 for a consistent period of time the river stays very cold. Should be nice and warm now. July and August are perfect for swimming and tubing if not for fishing. We take our inner tubes, a big float with an ice chest full of water and beer and soda and maybe some margaritas and some snack foods and spend 6 or 8 hours floating down the river.

Whipped out some patterns yesterday and then took a friend to Mexico to have a wisdom tooth pulled. Emergency extraction! We have all our dental work done in Mexico in offices newer, nicer, more modern than here in Yuma or for anywhere else that I can recall. We are fortunate to have dental insurance but it's still cheaper in Mexico.

After Mexico I hit the thrift stores in town and it was a bonus trip. Got almost 200 and they are most of them uncut Vogue patterns from the 1980's to 1990's. The pile of unscanned and unlisted is getting taller ...

After getting home late yesterday no energy to put in for today but whipped some out this morning.

My favorite for today is: McCall's 3079 Top of the Line Skirt 1954- very useable straight skirt. It's true beauty lies in that zippered pocket. Don't think I've seen an oldie with zipper pockets before.

McCall 7124 Delightful Day or Evening Skirt 1947- nothing beats a great skirt paired with a vintage blouse. The evening length of course is the highlight for me.

It never rains .... had to replace my computer monitor a few weeks ago when it went "blank" and then my computer died just before the weekend. So a new computer and a new scanner (the old one wasn't compatible") gave me a few fits but now I wish I had done it sooner. The new computers are like greased lightning.

Featured new: Butterick 3999 Eye Popping Sleeveless Dress, Top & Skirt 1995 with side buttoning just killer. I love patterns that have graceful waistlines which this one does. After years of watching "What Not to Wear" (the UK version is better than the US version) I know better than to wear something like this myself as I am too short and stumpy.

We had a very nice holiday weekend and fortunately our plans didn't include going camping or to the river. The wind blew and blew and we had a blowing sand and dust hazard warning up until yesterday. So we went shopping and to the movies and had dinner out. We saw the new Pirates movies and so enjoyed it. Yesterday we went 4-wheeling and were out almost 8 hours. Here is what we saw: An owl's nest in a Saguero cactus with an owl peeking out, a golden eagle, vultures, roadrunners, lots of birds, and the best was a gray fox! Unfortunately in spite of the perfect weather snakes. Really - I like snakes.

Butterick 2365 Pouch Pocketed Skirt / ca. 1963 which is not the fanciest vintage pattern listed today but don't you just love that pouch pocket! Like a small handwarmer.

No plans for the long holiday weekend except making sure I turn the alarm off. We may go out in the Prowler on Saturday and make a trip over to Wellton for lunch. We'll go thru "Woodcutter's Pass" to the other side. It's a rather grueling and slow trip but fun. Then we like to cut off to the railroad tracks and follow them and the canal home. The featured pattern is an extremely rare one. I researched it and found ONE on another site for much more than I am listing it for. Now I wish I had the pattern for that Some Like It Hot wiggle dress. Who cooks wearing that?

Temps finally hovering around the 100 degree mark. It sounds odd to say but hoping the heat stays around and goes up too. It's not fun to go to the river and swim until the temps have been up alot and the water has warmed up.

As I am sure with all of you my thoughts and prayers are with all the victims in Joplin, MO as well as all the people suffering due to the flooding. It's too much to even comprehend.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and that for those of you in the east and midwest that the rains and floods have abated. My prayers are with you.

We have "adopted" a child in Kenya to sponsor and are thrilled. Some members of our church recently went on their yearly trip to help in a very poor village and orphanage and they are working with the Tumaini International Ministries to help children with their tuition, school fees, uniforms and books, food, clothing, health care, Christian camp week and counseling. Our sponsored child is a young lady named Faith who is 13. Older children are harder to get sponsored so we picked one of the older kids on purpose and her name just grabbed me. So many children there are in need of sponsors and if you were ever thinking of giving this gift of life just contact them online.

I spent 3 weeks in Kenya in 1981 and loved the country and the people. When our church went there it brought back some lovely and also sad memories. The abject poverty is overwhelming and once you see something like that you never take what you have for granted again.

Vogue 9785 Quirky Fashion of a Skirt OR Cape 1959 and this "combo" is a first for me. It says this is a skirt "or" a cape but it also says you can wear the cape as a skirt. Now that's what I call unique! The "double breasted" look is so very pretty on the skirt.

I am such a dope. I had an odd posting by a friend and thought "what is this?" and clicked on it to view it and OMG it sent the link to everyone in my Facebook friends list. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day whether you or your own mother were celebrated! I so miss my mother on this special day. If you have lost your mother you will know it was a day with some sadness to it too. Luckily I have a simply awesome MIL who I adore. My husband and I took her and her BFF Cecelia (she doesn't have any family close to take her) to the Asian Star and we had a hoot. Carol and Cecelia are so funny and they had all the tables around us in stitches. Carol says she can make a friend in a bathroom and it's true. I drank too much Sake and was buzzed enough that I didn't even freak out when Carol drove us home. I usually swear to never get in a car that she's behind the wheel of - truly. Feeling sluggish today - grin. Didn't get my listings done until just now but they are up and ready.

Sue Burnett 1443 Double Breasted Dress & Tie Belt 1972 and though it is early 1970's it still retains the late 1960's "Mad Men" styling. I thought at first glance that the flaps were pockets but they are strictly decorative to pull the tie belt thru. Just plain like this one.

A friend did a posting on Facebook about her nephew's business and if you have a dog check it out! Each doggie toy is assigned a "color" and each color designates a charity that some of the proceeds will go to. It has created quit a buzz in Southern California and even was written about in the Orange County Register. I bought a Disc for my "niece" Jane - it's a dog water bowl that doubles as a "frisbee" and is "durable" - we'll be checking it out with a very rambunctious yellow lab named Jane.

Butterick 6836 Race Day Double Breasted Dress 1993 which I have multiple copies of so you can pick your size. I had one size already but added the others. It has just a great shape to it. In the Summertime Simplicity 9359 Groovin' Dress or Tunic & Shorts 1971 - this pattern just screams "Hippie"

Hope you all had a lovely Easter. We went to "sunrise" service and then the regular service. A little surprised that the "sunrise" service started at 7 a.m. Wow - do they think we are lazybones? No matter it was lovely and moving.

Growing older has its benefits but one of them is NOT moving beyond an Easter Basket. Filled with chocolate bunnies, Peeps (my personal favorite), colored eggs, and jelly beans. Oh and don't forget the Easter Egg hunt. We had a huge back yard and lots of nooks and crannies to hide eggs. I can remember finding eggs months later LOL that my mom had hidden and forgotten about.

Not super vintage but couldn't pass up one of the Catalog Vogue patterns that Joni sold me: Vogue 1865 Dress with Dishy Bodice Variations 1980's and if you still have a summer dress that you need one of these should fit the bill. The "wrap" halter is nice but I favor the tank top one. I'd better get to lifting those weights to firm up the flabby arms that seem to have appeared overnight. I swear I woke up the other morning and when I got up my underarms stayed on the bed.

Just glanced at them but they are great - I find it odd that most of the patterns that are "catalog" I rarely find them on the internet. Have to wonder if they were sold mostly thru the manufacturer and not sent to the stores. Does anyone know? I find this is as true for Vogue as Simplicity.

Featured new is: Simplicity 8762 Irresistible Summer Dress & Overskirt 1999 - there's something about overskirts that are so attractive and feminine. The bodice shaping is so pretty - almost a "bustier" look about it though it isn't at all "sexy" like a bustier usually is supposed to be. Wholesome is the word I was looking for!

Featured vintage pattern is one I had a while back and was pleased to find another: Butterick 2524 Haute Couture Box Jacket, Overblouse & Skirt / ca. 1963

Had to do quite a bit of work to clean it up to post. It was very "foxed" - and didn't scan very well. Sometimes I pass over patterns that look too icky but this was uncut! Very svelte looking - everything has a slim lined style.

Thank you Nancy for a trip down memory lane talking about our pets. Got down on all fours and dug thru old photo albums to find a few old pictures of my old mare (who passed away a few years ago at age 34) and a lovely palomino stallion we had for a few years.

Thought I'd share and yes that is me in 1978 and 1979 hee hee. Totally Brady Bunch bubble head permanent hair. Sometimes a walk down memory lane is more like a nightmare of fashion.

My mare was 6 or 7 in these pictures and me well I was pushing 30. I had Robin since she was born in 1972. Hand raised her which was so fun but alot of hard work as you can imagine. She was very personable and loved people. She could care less about other horses or animals she thought she was human. Never mean or cranky just a stubborn streak but still sweet. The perfect horse who even if she was uncertain would listen to me and trust me. Okay I sure miss that time of my life.

The stallion was a well known (at that time) Palomino - Quarter horse stud that we had always admired and when the chance came we snatched him up. We intended to breed him with my mare but two horses were too much work and so we gave him up to another fan of his after about 2 years. Working full time, being married and having two horses to ride and exercise and care for was over the top but it was still hard to give him up. The most gentle and easy going horse I've ever had especially for a stallion. I used to ride him with a hackamore not with a bit and even bareback he was so well behaved. My mare was a handful and when friends would visit I'd let them ride him. Wasn't he a beauty!

Featured new is: Simplicity 5191 Sexy Shirtdress, or Tunic & Pants 2004 - the reason I say "Sexy" is because the blond on the cover sure looks like Paris Hilton and makes that rather nice shirtdress a true hottie. There is just something "neat" and tidy looking about these outfits. I like them.

Mail Order 2741 Catherine's Dress with Fine Stitching / Late 1940's or very early 1950's. It's always hard to tell when the envelope has 1 1/2 cents postage as that covers a wide range. It looks early 50's but there was such a "crossover" in style during that time - IMO of course.

Our Catherine sure had an eye for style - nicely fitted bodice with little cap sleeves or long cuffed sleeves and that full skirt. The stitching is so attractive.

One of "Mabel's" patterns got snatched up yesterday. There's still one left.

Featured new was hard today. I purchased a bunch of "catalog" patterns all from the 1980's. Some great New Look Patterns (before they were taken over by Simplicity), some Vogue and some Simplicity. Finally settled on: Vogue 9955 Mischievious Camisole & Petticoat 1980's

There are two featured patterns today because a Mrs. Mabel Wood from Madison Heights, Virginia was a fashion icon who saved her old patterns for me to find.

She deserves a "Shout Out" for Marian Martin 9085 Mabel's Hit Parade Blouse & Skirt 1950's and Marian Martin 9008 Mabel's Center of Attention Dress / Late 1940's or Early 1950's. In spite of her "old fashioned" name she rocked in the fashion world obviously!

A customer who purchased a pattern earlier this year for a play "Picnic" was kind enough to send me pictures of the play featuring the dress and it is so spectacular! The fabric used was right on too. Thank you Anthony!

Vogue 7688 Best Dressed Evening Dress in Two Lengths 1970's a catalog order. It comes with the original catalog page with all the pertinent info. It's an oversized page and was tough to try and get in a listing so I had to chop the picture in half and put the other picture in separately. Simplicity 3483 Exceptional Misses' Tailored Dress 1940

Oh my - Tuesday was a "lost day." A morning doctor appointment forgotten until I saw I had a message on my phone which was a reminder call from the doctor. Set the land speed record for getting ready and driving there. Then I sat for an hour hee hee. Being a patient person (most of the time) I played games on my phone and caught up on the Hollywood gossip (People magazines theirs not mine). Took advantage of being "in town" and hit the thrift stores. Found almost 50 great patterns along with some old knit and crochet books, and some summer tops for me. Also got a few things I will take pics of and put on the Thrift Collective site. My find of the day was surely a bobble head cat in lime green with wild colors that is a toothbrush holder. Get Outta Here! It now sits in "my" bathroom as a centerpiece of cute but tacky. Topped the day off by taking my husband (who works in town) to a sushi dinner. Only able to have one "container" of hot sake - darn. Getting a DUI is not on my Bucket List.

Tomorrow's listing and posting I expect will be late too so don't set the alarm too early to check it - yeah right LOL.

To make up for missing yesterday I put in a bunch more "oldies" - and the featured pattern was hard to pick. It was between 4 of them. Finally opted for: Simplicity 3483 Exceptional Misses' Tailored Dress 1940 (it actually has the date inscribed on the envelope) because I love View 1 with the four little V-pockets. It also has a lovely great waistline and then those soft pleats finish off the dress. This dress has absolutely everything going for it. Short or long sleeved. Collar or no collar. Pockets or no pockets.

Nancy I didn't forget the links you gave me. I had planned on going thru everything last night but .... so as soon as I peruse them I will post and they look great and I believe you will find them both interesting and useful. Nancy never disappoints!

The featured new is certainly IMO "age specific" - grin. But if you can carry this off or have a friend or daughter who can woo hoo! Burda 8313 Discotheque Sexy Tops 2000's and can you see the strobe lights from the Disco Ball?

McCall 6796 Eye Popping Oversized Coat 1947 an early spring listing but if you are looking toward next winter you'll be the fanciest and most chic wearer of this next winter. 1940's Coat Patterns with those big Joan Crawford shoulders are so stylish - do you have to be tall to make them look right? I swear I'd look square ---

The weekend camping trip was too windy so instead of riding or walking I stayed inside and scanned pictures for this week and went thru some oldies to confirm all the pattern pieces are there. Read one entire book and started another, napped, snuggled with the kitties. It was heaven. No matter how determined we are on the weekend to read or rest there's always something to do. Being stuck in the middle of the desert forces inactivity during poor weather.

Great looking suit for the featured new: Burda 8587 Offset Buttoned Jacket & Skirt 2000's - though it features a plus size model this pattern is a multi-size from small to large.

This one adds a few details to make it zing - dolman sleeved or short cuffed sleeves and pointy collar in contrast fabric. You can't go wrong having a shirtdress in your closet!

McCall's 8325 Yummy U-Necked Dress with Two Skirts 1966 with a delightful low neckline. Definitely sleeveless is IMO the one to make but then again ... those sheer sleeves call to me.
